Hermia Art Print | A Midsummer Night’s Dream | Shakespeare Wall Art

A young woman caught between love, loyalty and the wild magic of the forest.

Hermia is part of my A Midsummer Night’s Dream collection, hand-drawn in pencil crayon and inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most beloved romantic stories.

Creating these portraits has been a wonderfully nostalgic experience for me. I grew up watching the 1999 film adaptation, with its beautiful Italian setting and dreamlike atmosphere, and it completely captured my imagination. The gardens, costumes and theatrical magic made the story feel almost real.

For Hermia, I wanted to capture her romantic and spirited nature — a young woman navigating love and uncertainty while the magical world of the forest unfolds around her. The richness and tactile quality of pencil crayon felt perfect for creating a portrait that feels both nostalgic and timeless.

Inspired by classical paintings, old literature, romance and the natural world, Hermia is part of an ongoing collection of hand-drawn portraits exploring the characters of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Alongside Titania and Oberon, she forms the beginning of a collection inspired by the stories and characters that captured my imagination as a child.
