Heron Art Print | Night Sky Wall Art | Abstract Bird Print

A solitary heron beneath a star-filled sky, caught somewhere between stillness, mystery and the quiet magic of night.

This heron was created using a combination of ink, watercolour and pencil crayon, allowing the image to develop in a loose and abstract way. Rather than creating a realistic study of the bird, I wanted to capture the feeling of encountering a heron at night - quiet, watchful and almost otherworldly.

There is something wonderfully timeless about herons. Their stillness, elegance and connection to the water have always made them feel like creatures from another world, appearing almost like characters in an old story or a half-remembered dream.

For this piece, I wanted to play with atmosphere more than realism. Deep washes of ink, soft watercolour and expressive pencil crayon marks create a night sky that feels dreamlike and slightly mysterious, with the heron emerging from the darkness beneath the stars.

Inspired by literature, classical art, nature and the quiet beauty of the natural world, this piece is an exploration of solitude, stillness and the feeling of looking up at a night sky and imagining what might be beyond it.
