Oberon Art Print | A Midsummer Night’s Dream | Shakespeare Wall Art

King of the fairies, mysterious and mischievous.

Oberon is part of my A Midsummer Night’s Dream collection, hand-drawn in pencil crayon and inspired by Shakespeare’s enchanting fairy king.

My love for these characters began in childhood, watching the 1999 film adaptation set amongst the beautiful Italian countryside. I remember being completely captivated by its gardens, costumes and dreamlike atmosphere - it felt like stepping into another world.

Returning to the characters through drawing years later felt like rediscovering that same sense of wonder. There was something almost magical about sitting down with pencil crayons and becoming completely absorbed in the story once again.

For Oberon, I wanted to capture something regal, enigmatic and otherworldly. His portrait draws on the tradition of classical portraiture while allowing the texture, colour and expressive quality of pencil crayon to give the piece a softer, more contemporary character.

Part of an ongoing collection exploring A Midsummer Night’s Dream, alongside Titania, Puck and Hermia, with more characters to follow.
